As counsel, Peter has participated in numerous arbitration proceedings.  Peter no doubt shares a note with his colleagues that the majority of his arbitration experience has been in the judicial, "non-binding" category.  Peter recalls that practically all of the arbitration proceedings in which he has participated (on one side or another) have to his recollection resulted in the pre-trial resolution of the case.  As a practitioner, Peter also has binding arbitration experience as well and has knowledge of the policies and procedures of several major alternative dispute resolution firms in the binding arbitration area.

Current Practice & Professional History (Temp Judge Exp):
A co-owner of the firm Martin & Bochnewich, Peter's practice includes complex civil litigation, including business and contract dispute litigation. Peter has also developed a substantial focus and concentration in the area of trust and estate litigation, and is particularly well regarded in this area. Peter has substantial mediation, arbitration, law and motion, and trial experience. Peter's practice also includes elder abuse litigation, product liability, real property disputes, discrimination in employment, and sexual harassment litigation. Peter has litigated and tried many trust and estate matters. Peter has tried undue influence cases and financial elder abuse matters. Peter has also tried and litigated in the binding arbitration setting, complicated employment discrimination matters. Peter has also litigated antitrust matters before the complex litigation panel of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, where he helped obtain a seven figure settlement for a client in that arena.
Elected by his colleagues to serve on the Board of Trustees of the Desert Bar Association in the year 2000, Peter was elected to the Board of Trustees in all successive years, culminating in his term as President of the Desert Bar Association for the 2007-2008 term. Currently, Peter serves the Desert Bar Association as Immediate Past President. Peter has in the past also been selected to act as a delegate to the California State Bar Convention. Peter also feels honored and quite privileged to be a member of the Riverside County Superior Court Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee, which has been the primary force in the development of this Mediation program. In 2008, Peter was also elected to the Board of the Desert Estate Planning Council.
Educational Background:
Born in New York, Peter was raised primarily in Connecticut and earned a degree in business management from Central Connecticut State University in 1981.  Peter earned his law degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego in 1992, where he was active in numerous student and public affairs activities and the recipient of several academic achievement awards.

Peter prefers an encouraging approach, based upon a solid knowledge of the issues, the applicable rule of law and the facts so as to fully appreciate the position of each side to a dispute.  Peter also feels it is important to appreciate, understand, respect and successfully manage the interpersonal dynamics that may be part and parcel of any dispute.

Fee Information:
$375 per hour
Reduced rates and pro bono matters will be considered. Peter appreciates the opportunity to mediate cases for his colleagues, and will be happy to consider fee arrangements on an individual case-by-case basis. Peter is willing to discount his hourly rate for mediation services to reflect his longstanding affiliations with the Desert Bar Association and the Riverside County Bar Association and their associated committees, including the Riverside County Superior Court's Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee.
