As a member of the Attorney Settlement Panel of the Central District of California, I have participated in their annual mediator training program for many years.
My style is relatively informal. I strongly prefer that mediation briefs be submitted at least 48 hours in advance of the hearing, electronically. I generally will not conduct a joint session with all parties, but if the attorneys both request that a joint session be held at the beginning, I will certainly do so. Mediations under this program are conducted by Zoom.
A brief from each party is expected. Please include information on any negotiations, which have been conducted prior to mediation. Please submit your brief electronically rather than by mail. It is expected that the parties will meet and confer regarding the timing of mediation and some acceptable dates for same during the planning stages.
